The Church in the Cove
Photo and Commentary by Melissa Ginsburg
The Church in the Cove has been an important part of Beverly
since it was constructed in 1956. Following its construction,
it has been renovated and expanded numerous times to accommodate
its growing number of members. The unifying concept that we
are, together, one family, says the churchs belief statement.
As such, we love, support and respect one another. The Church
in the Cove is important because it helps to bring the community
together. In todays society, there is a great need for
a positive influence on the people, both old and young alike.
The church provides this influence by encouraging people do
to good through organized community activities.
The Church in the Cove is sustainable over time because churches,
as well as other places of worship, are valued. Generally, because
of this, churches are able to last a long time and carry a history
of the people who have attended them. In the future it may be
thought of as immortal because the possibility is strong that
it will still exist. It may even be an important part of Beverly,
as it is today, for many years to come. Even if this specific
church does not exist in the future, all of the influences it
has had on society and records of its many events will be remembered.
Locally, the Church in the Cove is a place for Christians to
gather and enjoy the company of one another while learning and
serving the Lord. It has impacted many people of all faiths
through its youth and outreach programs. Places like this church
are vital to the prosperity of Beverly because its people need
a place to worship. Without this church, people may not have
stayed here nor had the chance to get involved in the community.
In a larger sense, this church is one of many Christian churches
in the United States. When people first immigrated to America,
one of the many reasons they did so was because of religious
persecution. The promise of freedom of religion attracted people
to America.
This promise of freedom of religion has stood the test of time
and is still valued in the Unites States today. The Church in
the Cove is a representation of the peoples need to worship
the way they choose.
