Little Italy
Photo and Commentary by Antonio Hernandez
In the heart of Beverly lies a small pizza shop that has always
graced our presence and aways been open and ready to serve.
Their uniqueness in pizza leaves a question in ones mind
How do they make their sauce so sweet?, a quality
like no other. Not only does this local shop have a great taste
like no other but has become a hang out for local high school
kids and college kids along with the entire Cabot street strip.
How does Little Italy relate to the rest of the nation though,
or even the world? Will Little Italy still be a major part of
Beverly many years from now after we are dead?
Intersection, a relation between the large and small or even
small with large. On a small scale Little Italy is seen as a
great restaurant with a nice atmosphere where you can comfortable
eat and converse. On a large scale it is one of the millions
of pizza restaurants across the nation. Little Italy is just
one of these millions, yet it contributes none the less.
After I die I believe that Little Italy will have changed its
face and will have been out of business for years. I like to
think that Little Italy as a timepiece rather than something
that lasts for years. I will look back at the Dominoes Pizza
place on Cabot street many years from now and point and say
that was where Little Italy Pizaaera used to be, the great
pizza shop that had the only sweet sauced pizza in Massachusetts.
Little Italy was never meant to be iconic, it was meant to last
for a short period of time but while here, have an amazing impact
on the people of Beverly.
