Houses on the Waterfront
Photo and Commentary by Terry Ki. Karuoya
The history of Beverly's waterfront includes the construction
of houses that could sustain every class. The houses led to
the development of harbors where ships could sail and the development
of businesses around the area. The houses also show how construction
of houses has changed from the 1800s to the 1900s.
The houses were constructed in a way that a lot of residents
could occupy in a small area. With the mode of construction
the house could have different tenants of different social communities,
which led to the interaction between the neighbors thus led
to the intersection of people. Intersection was also led by
the site of economic businesses which led to people buying from
their shops thus how people interested with the rest of the
people.
Immortalization or cause of the construction of such house was
to move away from town areas to an area, which was not noisy,
and a pleasant site for everyone to see. The buildings were
also constructed to inhabit more people as they came from different
states of the country.
